A New Kingdom Awaits: Open-World RPG Confirmed for Next Kingdom Come Game

Warhorse Studios has officially revealed that their upcoming project in the Kingdom Come series will be an “open-world RPG.” This gem is expected to hit the shelves in the next fiscal year, promising an expansive gaming experience that we can all look forward to.
During a recent livestream, the studio’s communications director, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, and community manager, Tom Grey, shared some juicy details that cleared up any speculation around the game. Ever since the announcement of a new adventure in the Kingdom Come universe, fans have been buzzing with theories about its direction. Fortunately, Stolz-Zwilling stepped in to confirm that this new title will not only continue the legacy of its predecessor but also expand on it significantly.
While fans were eager for specifics, Stolz-Zwilling did mention that this follow-up to Kingdom Come: Deliverance will not transform into a totally different genre or bring in movies. Instead, it’s set to be a true RPG experience that stays true to what players loved about the original. Although the exact title hasn’t been revealed yet, it’s reassuring to know that the studio remains dedicated to creating a project that resonates with the community.
Interestingly enough, while the Kingdom Come saga is evolving, game director Daniel Vávra is also working on a movie adaptation of the franchise. But the focus here is on the games, and it seems that Warhorse is keen on delivering not just one, but two “proper” games; the other being an open-world RPG set in the fantastical realm of Middle-earth from The Lord of the Rings.
As for the team behind this ambitious project, Stolz-Zwilling confirmed that Prokop Jirsa, the lead designer for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, will steer the Kingdom Come team. Meanwhile, Viktor Bocan will helm the Middle-earth project. While we don’t have a solid date for either game, the buzz is that the new Kingdom Come adventure is on track for release between April 2027 and March 2028.
Stolz-Zwilling reassured fans that they won’t be left hanging for too long, hinting at a much quicker turnaround than the seven-year gap we experienced before the sequel. Grey added, “That’s the aim,” indicating the studio’s commitment to delivering the next installment as soon as they can.
