Big Changes in Universal’s Movie Lineup: Mummy 4 and Miami Vice ‘85 Release Dates Shifted
Looks like Universal Pictures is shaking things up with its movie release schedule! The studio recently announced some significant date changes that are sure to get cinephiles buzzing.
First up, Miami Vice ‘85 has been pushed back from its original date of August 6, 2027, to May 19, 2028. That slot is now occupied by the highly anticipated The Mummy 4, which has shifted from its new date to October 15, 2027. This change also bumps an Untitled Blumhouse Event Film to October 8, 2027.
In the announcement, Universal revealed some exciting casting news as well. Oscar-winning star Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler will take on the iconic roles of undercover cops Ricardo Tubbs and Sonny Crockett in Miami Vice ‘85. The film aims to capture the essence of the beloved TV series, particularly the pilot episode and its first season, while also incorporating modern technology to enhance the visuals and sound.
As for The Mummy 4, fans can look forward to seeing Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz back in action as adventurers Rick and Evie O’Connell. This new installment will be directed by the talented duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from Radio Silence, and both films are set to be shot in IMAX.
