Budget Blow: High PTA Taxes on Gaming Phones Here to Stay

Reports suggest that this proposal, which aimed to cut the tax rate from 25% down to 18%, faced hurdles. The primary reasons cited for its rejection are the government’s need to meet revenue targets set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and, interestingly, the interests of local mobile phone assemblers.

So, if you were planning to grab that latest flagship phone with a buttery-smooth display and top-tier processor for your gaming sessions, be prepared to pay the same premium. The higher tax means a heftier price tag for devices that offer the best performance, battery life, and overall experience for mobile gaming enthusiasts.
