Carcass Clad: A New Tank Adventure with Friends!
Get ready, gamers! Wrong Organ is back with an exciting new project called Carcass Clad, following their hit title, Mouthwashing. This time, they’re venturing into a co-op multiplayer experience that’s bound to shake things up a bit.
During a chat with the talented developers Jeffrey Tomec and Dave van Egdom, we learned that while Carcass Clad is a departure from the single-player focus of Mouthwashing, it retains some familiar themes and atmospheres. The duo explained that their journey to a multiplayer format wasn’t a planned shift but rather a natural evolution while developing a tank-themed game.
Tomec shared that there was some uncertainty at first. The original concept revolved around a tank game with three players controlling different roles simultaneously. However, the idea soon evolved into a co-op game that promises to deliver intense and immersive gameplay, reminiscent of wild tank movie scenes.
“We weren’t aiming to create a co-op game at first,” Tomec noted. “But once we discussed the concept, it just felt right to take that route.” According to van Egdom, the pivot happened early in the development phase, around July 2024, leading to the co-op mechanics that define Carcass Clad today.
So, what’s the gameplay like? Each player in Carcass Clad takes on a specific role: there’s the driver, the gunner, and the commander. While the driver navigates the tank, the gunner focuses on shooting, both roles come with their challenges, especially due to the tank’s restricted visibility and cramped interior. Players can open a hatch for a better view, but that can be risky during combat!
“When you’re in a tank, visibility is limited, making it tense and chaotic,” said van Egdom. The commander, on the other hand, has the best view and offers crucial insights but doesn’t directly control the tank. It’s a classic “man in the chair” dynamic, where communication and strategy are key to success.
In terms of style, Tomec and van Egdom describe Carcass Clad as a “friendsweat” game, blending elements of military simulation with the casual fun of co-op gaming. They aim to provide players with the thrill of tactical gameplay without diving too deep into the hardcore military sim territory.
The game’s unique mechanics should give it a distinct flavor. Expect challenges that require teamwork and quick thinking, while also allowing for some light-hearted moments. The team hopes to create an atmosphere where players feel both empowered and reliant on each other, striking a balance between fun and intensity.
As for the titular carcass clad tanks, these will mainly be enemy vehicles adorned with improvised armor, offering players a different challenge as they try to breach through. The developers promise that players might encounter some bizarre surprises inside their tanks, adding to the thrill of gameplay.
While Mouthwashing was an emotionally intense experience, Carcass Clad aims to evoke that tension in a co-op format, allowing players to share the highs and lows of battle together. And don’t worry—there will be breather moments! The game will feature breaks between runs, similar to the structure seen in Left 4 Dead, giving players a chance to regroup and strategize.
With an official release on the horizon, Carcass Clad is shaping up to be a wild ride for those looking to dive into a chaotic tank adventure with friends. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates as the development team fine-tunes their vision.
