Cast Your Line! How to Snag the Fishing Rod in Dave the Diver: In the Jungle DLC

Hey there, fellow divers and chefs of the Blue Hole! The much-anticipated Dave the Diver: In the Jungle DLC has landed, bringing a whole new world of adventure, danger, and, believe it or not, some seriously chill fishing! We’re talking about proper rod-and-reel action, not just harpooning everything in sight. If you’re anything like us, the idea of kicking back and reeling in some exotic jungle fish sounds like a dream. But first, you need to get your hands on that trusty fishing rod. Don’t worry, PakGamersHub has got your back!

Gone are the days when Dave’s only fishing method was a harpoon, net gun, or even an underwater shotgun. This DLC lets you experience fishing in a whole new light. Imagine catching unique, never-before-seen fish in various jungle ponds. Sounds awesome, right? So, let’s get straight to it – how do you unlock this sweet new gadget?

Your First Stop: Basu the Villager

To kick off your journey to becoming a master angler, you’ll need to do a little favour for a friendly villager named Basu. You can find him chilling out east of Dave’s cozy cabin, right on the edge of the sparkling lake. He’s usually hanging around outside his house, but sometimes he might be fishing off his own dock. If he’s not immediately visible, just pop into his house and head out the back door overlooking the water – he’ll probably be there!

Strike up a conversation with Basu and ask him about his favourite things. He’ll soon start raving about a majestic creature: the Piraiba Catfish. He won’t explicitly mention the fishing rod, but trust us, fulfilling his request for this legendary fish for your restaurant is exactly how you earn your new angling tool!

The Hunt for the Piraiba Catfish

Now, this isn’t just any ordinary fish. The Piraiba Catfish is a serious catch! To find it, you’ll need to take a dive into the lake itself. Swim towards the right side of the lake, keeping an eye on your depth. These elusive giants typically hang out between 35 to 75 meters deep, usually around the middle section of the lake. Keep an eye out for a dark gray fish with a white underbelly, sporting some impressive long whiskers, and about three times Dave’s size – you won’t miss it!

Be warned, though: the Piraiba Catfish isn’t going down without a fight! This brute is a tough opponent. Make sure you’re well-prepared before engaging. We highly recommend having extra ammo as one of your hotbar items and a good supply of oxygen (or healing items) in the other slot. This fish has a nasty habit of charging straight at you, trying to suck you into its massive mouth!

If it does try to swallow you, be ready for a quick-time event (QTE) to dodge its attack. Fail that, and you’ll face another QTE to escape its stomach – definitely not where you want to be! Our pro tip? Try circling it while peppering it with shots from your sniper rifle. When it gets up close and personal, switch to your trusty shotgun. And when it charges, swim directly up or down to avoid its gaping maw. Strategy is key here!

Reaping Your Reward and Beyond!

Once you’ve finally managed to defeat this aquatic beast, either summon your trusty salvage drone to haul it away or simply cut off a piece of its meat with your knife. With your prize in hand (or rather, in drone!), head back to Basu. Deliver that Piraiba Catfish meat to him, and voilà! Your brand-new fishing rod is yours!

But wait, there’s more! Basu isn’t just a quest giver; his shop also opens up after this, offering you a place to buy all sorts of bait and even upgrades for your new fishing rod. Talk about a sweet deal!

Now that you’re equipped, it’s time to explore! All the fishing spots in the game are conveniently marked on your map with a neat fishing rod icon. You’ll find a lovely pond west of the village, near the waterfall by the shooting range, and three more scattered across the jungle map. Plus, you can even cast your line off Basu’s very own dock next to the lake. Get out there, explore, and start reeling in those incredible new fish species!
