CD Projekt Red’s CEO: We Still Need to Prove Ourselves! Is The Witcher 4 the Key?
Remember the rollercoaster ride that was Cyberpunk 2077’s launch? The hype was unreal, and then, well, we all know how that story began. While CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has done an incredible job turning the game around with patches and the fantastic Phantom Liberty expansion, it seems the folks at the very top aren’t quite ready to declare their mission accomplished.
Michał Nowakowski, one of CDPR’s joint CEOs, recently shared his thoughts, hinting that the studio still feels like they have a “redemption arc” to complete. Even though Cyberpunk 2077 is now a polished experience and a major cultural talking point, Nowakowski believes there’s still work to be done to fully solidify their standing in the gaming world.
It’s true, Cyberpunk definitely had a rocky start, but let’s be honest, CDPR’s name still carries immense weight among gamers, largely thanks to the legendary success of The Witcher series. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, in particular, remains a masterpiece that fans can’t stop raving about, even years after its release.
How much love does The Witcher 3 still get? Enough that it’s actually receiving a brand new expansion, a decade after its last major content drop! That alone speaks volumes about the enduring appeal and quality CDPR can deliver when everything clicks.
So, what’s the next big step for CDPR in this journey to win over every last gamer’s heart? Many eyes are now turning towards the highly anticipated new Witcher saga. While not officially titled ‘The Witcher 4,’ the next installment in the beloved fantasy universe is widely seen as a crucial moment for the studio.
It’s hoped that the upcoming Witcher game will not only be an incredible RPG in its own right but also serve as the ultimate statement from CDPR, reminding everyone why they were once, and aspire to be again, the gold standard for epic, story-driven gaming experiences. We’ll be eagerly watching to see how this ‘redemption arc’ unfolds!
