DC Studios Sets Sights on Greg Mottola for Bane and Deathstroke Film

Looks like DC Studios is eyeing Greg Mottola, known for hit comedies like Superbad and his work on Peacemaker, to take the helm of a new film featuring the ruthless duo, Bane and Deathstroke. While nothing is officially inked yet, reports suggest Mottola is leading the pack of potential directors.

As of now, the project lacks a release date and is still in the early stages, with no script or contracts signed. This buzz around a Bane and Deathstroke film has been simmering since 2024, when rumors first surfaced about writer Matthew Orton being involved. Fast forward to today, and it seems that the film is still in its infancy, with plenty of room for development.

Mottola is no stranger to directing, having led films such as Adventureland and recently worked on projects like Confess, Fletch. He also directed a few episodes of Season 2 of DC’s Peacemaker, giving him some experience in the superhero genre.

While specifics about the plot and how this film fits into the larger DC Universe remain unclear, there’s no shortage of material to draw from. Bane has been featured in various video games and animated series, while his live-action appearances include roles in films like The Dark Knight Rises and Batman & Robin. On the other hand, Deathstroke, also known as Slade Wilson, has appeared in shows like Arrow and Titans, and made a brief appearance in Justice League thanks to Joe Manganiello.

For fans eager to know more about DC Studios’ exciting plans, keep an eye out for first-look images of The Batman Part 2, which have been shared by director Matt Reeves, and updates on the upcoming Clayface movie’s timeline within the DCU.
