Devil May Cry’s Netflix Adventure Wraps Up with Season 3
Big news for fans of the Devil May Cry series on Netflix! The show has officially been greenlit for a third season, but here’s the catch—it’ll also be the last one. Adi Shankar, the showrunner, shared that this conclusion was part of the plan from the beginning. He always envisioned the series as a movie trilogy wrapped up in a television format.
Shankar has cleverly hinted at the structure throughout the episodes. Each season reflects a part of Dante’s journey, echoing themes from the Divine Comedy but with a twist of guns and a signature red coat. The first season represented Inferno, the second was all about Purgatorio, and now, the upcoming third season will embody Paradiso—collectively known as ‘The Force Edge Saga.’
Season 2, which just dropped last month, has received rave reviews, scoring an impressive 8/10. Critics have praised it for expanding on the first season in every way possible. Shankar compared the progression between the seasons to the leap from Batman Begins to The Dark Knight, emphasizing how much bigger and bolder Season 2 is.
“The difference is like night and day,” he explained. “It’s not just about scale but also how the tone shifts dramatically.” With this in mind, fans are left wondering if Season 3 will take inspiration from The Dark Knight Rises, where the stakes were raised to cataclysmic levels. While we might not see any nuclear threats in Devil May Cry, one can only speculate about the challenges awaiting our heroes.
As of now, details about the plot and release date for Season 3 are still under wraps. Considering that Season 1 premiered in April 2025, there’s a solid chance we might see the final season debut in spring as well. It’s exciting to think that the story won’t drag on unnecessarily, leaving us with a sense of anticipation for what might come next.
