Did Mysterio’s Plan Make Sense? Fans Debate the Villain’s Strategy in Far From Home
As we gear up for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there’s some lively chatter among Marvel fans about the villain from the second MCU Spider-Man flick, Mysterio. In Far From Home, Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio, plays the role of a friendly ally to Peter Parker, but it’s all just a clever scheme to get his hands on Tony Stark’s glasses and take revenge on the late Iron Man by pretending to be a hero.
Mysterio dazzles everyone with his advanced illusion techniques and sets up fake battles, even going so far as to reveal Peter’s identity to the public. However, one fan raised an interesting question on Reddit: “Did Mysterio really think this through? What would he have done if he faced a real threat?” They point out that while he had impressive tech like a mocap suit and drones, it seems unlikely he would have used them in a real showdown.
Some fans chimed in with their thoughts, suggesting there might be a straightforward explanation. One user speculated, “I’m pretty sure he could have used his drones to back him up in a serious fight, just like he did with Peter.” Another added, “People forget those drones weren’t just for show; they were armed Stark drones. If Quentin had embraced the tech instead of pretending to be Doctor Strange, he could have been a real menace.”
Another fan pitched in, acknowledging that Mysterio had access to Tony Stark’s technology, which would have made him quite formidable. They noted, “The drones he had were already pretty destructive on their own.” Meanwhile, someone else humorously pointed out that Mysterio’s backstory involved him claiming to be from another universe, suggesting that if things got dicey, he could just disappear back to where he came from. “No long-term plan there,” they said.
It seems like Mysterio might have believed he could simply avoid the mess when faced with a real threat. One fan theorized, “My guess is he’d find a way to fake his own death or something. Probably not the best long-term strategy.” Of course, since Mysterio meets his demise at the end of Far From Home, these discussions are a bit moot now.
All eyes are now on Peter Parker as he gears up to face a new, unseen villain in Brand New Day, set to hit theaters on July 31. In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for our guide on all the upcoming Marvel movies and shows that the MCU has in store for us!
