Drop Dash: Wind-Up Tock Is a Cosy Physics Puzzler With 175 Hand-Made Levels

Drop Dash: Wind-Up Tock is one of our own games, and if you like puzzles that make you think and then make you laugh when they go wrong, it’s worth a look.

Tock is the last wind-up toy finished on the maker’s bench, and on his very first wind he rolled right off it. Your job is to get him home.

Plan it, drop it, watch it go

Every level is a little contraption made out of whatever was lying around: planks, springs, conveyor belts, fans, magnets and cannons.

  • Blue pieces are set up before the drop: tilt a plank, flip a belt, aim a cannon.
  • Yellow pieces work while Tock is rolling: tap at the right moment to open a gate or fire a spring.
  • Rewind any run and try again. Your setup stays, and a ghost trail shows your last attempt.

Seven worlds, 175 levels

The game moves from the Workshop to the Rooftops at dusk, a Toy Factory on night shift, the Canteen, the Laboratory, a Space Station and a Funfair on the pier. Each world adds new toys to play with, and each has a machine boss waiting at the end. There’s also a narrated story, a daily puzzle and paint jobs to unlock for Tock.

Good to know

  • It plays offline, so it’s good for long journeys and bad signal.
  • It’s free, with an ad between levels, and a one-time purchase removes ads.
  • It’s on Android now. An iPhone version isn’t available yet.
