Exciting Changes Coming in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.5!
The buzz around the first Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival is palpable as fans eagerly await the next expansion. Kicking off today, we can expect to see a trailer, the reveal of the expansion’s title, and some classic mind games from producer Naoki Yoshida, who always seems to have a cryptic t-shirt hinting at one of the new jobs. But before we dive into that, there’s still the highly anticipated Patch 7.5 to get excited about, set to launch on April 28.
Let’s talk about those patch notes that have just been shared. Honestly, there are some fantastic quality-of-life improvements that players will surely appreciate! Some of the most significant updates were hinted at in previous streams. For instance, player housing is getting a much-needed boost with an increase in the furniture limit for both indoor and outdoor spaces. Plus, a major cleanup of the dye inventory is on the way, helping to alleviate that annoying clutter.
Now, while these housing updates are promising, it’s worth noting that the system is still not perfect. The houses aren’t instanced, meaning that if too many items are crammed in, some might disappear. This could throw a wrench in the creativity of players who love to design their spaces, especially when it comes to clever tricks like stacking or clipping items. Nonetheless, for those of us with small gardens that have been neglected due to the old limit, this change is a welcome relief!
Speaking of the dye inventory, the consolidation here is a game-changer. While you’ll still have to deal with single-use dyes and the premium ones that remain separate (gotta keep those cash shop sales flowing!), the new categorization into three groups makes it way easier to manage than the overwhelming 100+ options we currently juggle.
One of the coolest new features is the ability to share hotbars between characters. It’s not a seamless one-click process, but rather a series of clicks and a 16-digit share code—definitely feels a bit retro. Still, this opens the door for sharing hotbar layouts with friends, which could lead to some fun customizations. I’ve seen some friends’ setups and I’m itching to help them out!
However, not every change is met with enthusiasm. As a casual PvP enthusiast, I’m a bit skeptical about the Frontline tweaks. The Battle High system, which rewards players with buffs for kills and assists, will no longer diminish upon death, and you’ll earn more the higher you climb. This feels like a strange alteration, potentially diminishing the thrill of maintaining that Battle High during intense skirmishes. Plus, I’m curious if these changes will actually address the notorious stomping issues the 72-player mode has been facing.
There’s a lot more to be excited about, including:
- Fun new interactions with chocobos, like reacting to pets.
- A brand new 24-player alliance raid.
- Bonus points for selected Wondrous Tails entries.
- Better guidance on emotes and weather for some tricky Sightseeing Log achievements.
- More stylish hats for Viera, especially some metal helmets that were missing.
- Revised party KO mechanics in deep dungeons.
- Increased dye channels for more gear.
With more updates expected throughout the Fan Fest weekend, I’m hopeful that these quality-of-life changes hint at something great on the horizon. Even if they’re not flawless, they’re certainly a step in the right direction. After all, when you’ve got over a decade’s worth of complex code to navigate, it’s best to tackle it piece by piece!
