Fortnite Festival Takes Music to New Heights with MIDI Drum Kit Support!
As a self-proclaimed stealth expert in battle royale games, you can often find me hiding in bushes, thinking I’m playing it smart—until another player catches me off guard. My Fortnite adventures have left a lot to be desired, but with the arrival of Season 14 of Fortnite Festival, there’s plenty to be excited about!
This season is headlined by the incredibly talented Icelandic-Chinese artist Laufey, who brings her jazzy vibes along with two new themed outfits. Plus, players can unlock unique instruments and cool auras through the Emberlight Music Pass designed for Fortnite crew members. While Laufey’s music will be featured in the game as unlockable Jam Tracks, that’s not the only exciting news this season!
One of the most thrilling additions is the support for MIDI drum kits. With this feature, those old Rock Band 4 drum kits you might have stashed away can now breathe new life! Epic Games, having acquired Harmonix—the masterminds behind both Rock Band and Guitar Hero—has finally introduced the ability to use these peripherals in Fortnite. This has been a long time coming, and it adds a whole new layer of fun to the game.
But wait, there’s more! For those who fancy belting out tunes, the Mic Vocals feature lets you plug in any Fortnite-compatible microphone on both PC and consoles. Imagine stepping into the Jam Ring and being able to move around while you play your favorite tracks—sounds awesome, right? Plus, the new Quick Mix UI gives you the freedom to customize your mash-up tracks on the go.
As a fan of Harmonix’s Fuser, which was a fantastic music mash-up game before its delisting, it’s great to see Fortnite Festival embracing similar gameplay. Maybe it’s finally time for me to leave my hiding spot and explore all the musical magic Fortnite has to offer!
