Gaming Just Got a Tongue-Twister: Control Your PC with the Revolutionary Mouth Pad!

Hey PakGamers! We all know gaming can sometimes feel like an exclusive club, right? Between the often hefty price tags of top-tier PCs and the physical demands of a keyboard and mouse, not everyone gets to join in on the fun. But what if we told you there’s a game-changer literally on the tip of someone’s tongue?

Enter the Mouth Pad, a truly innovative device that’s set to revolutionize how some gamers interact with their PCs, tablets, and even phones. Developed by a company called Augmental, which specializes in “Skinware” – basically, tech that lets you control computers without needing your hands – this gadget allows users to navigate and game using nothing but their tongue!

So, how does this magic happen? Imagine the top half of a dental retainer, but instead of just keeping your teeth straight, it’s packed with flexible circuits encased in custom 3D-printed resin. Users simply run their tongue over a tiny “trackpad” on the roof of their mouth. Pretty neat, huh? There’s even a head-tracking mode for alternative input. Clicking is as simple as pressing the tip of your tongue against your palate, while a light sucking or sipping motion can register a right-click. You can even click and drag!

The brains behind this, Augmental CEO Tomás Vega, initially dreamed of brain-machine interfaces. But after seeing the long development timelines and the immediate need for solutions, he shifted gears. He realized many people needed help *today*, not years down the line. His journey started with a “lollipop with a bunch of sensors” in 2019, and after working with around 100 early access users, including the legendary streamer RockyNoHands (who’s famous for getting Call of Duty kills with his mouth!), the Mouth Pad is now a reality.

Connecting via Bluetooth, just like your wireless mouse, the Mouth Pad offers about seven hours of battery life – not too shabby for a device you control with your tongue! It takes about an hour and a half to fully charge, so you’ll be back in action relatively quickly.

Now, let’s talk about the elephant in the room: the price. Currently, this incredible piece of assistive technology costs around $1,400 (approx. Rs 389,200) in the US, with a bundle including a second Mouth Pad going for $1,900 (approx. Rs 528,200). It’s a significant investment, and since it’s not yet FDA-approved, insurance reimbursements aren’t an option right now. However, considering the genuine potential this device has to improve lives, not just in gaming but in many other areas, we’re really hoping to see the price become more accessible over time.

This is more than just a cool gadget; it’s a step towards making the gaming world truly open to everyone. Imagine the possibilities for gamers with limited mobility! It’s innovations like the Mouth Pad that remind us how technology can break down barriers and bring more people into the incredible world of gaming.

Note: PKR figures are approximate, based on a rate of Rs 278.00 per USD. Exchange rates fluctuate — please check the latest dollar rate for exact pricing.
