Get Ready for More Blades and Vengeance! Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Trailer Drops, Confirms 2027 Return

Hold onto your katanas, folks! The highly anticipated second season of Netflix’s visually stunning animated series, Blue Eye Samurai, just got a brand new trailer, and while it’s short, it packs a punch – confirming a release date that might make some of you sigh, but trust us, it looks worth the wait.

The new clip gives us a tantalizing glimpse into Mizu’s ongoing, bloody quest. We see our fierce protagonist aboard a ship, presumably heading towards London, when a treacherous storm threatens to send her mission (and the vessel) to a watery grave. It’s a dramatic start that perfectly sets the tone for the challenges ahead. But the biggest revelation dropped right at the end: mark your calendars for January 2027!

This isn’t the first time we’ve caught a peek at Mizu’s next chapter. Previously, fans got a sneak peek during an animation festival, which revealed Mizu arriving in London and quickly getting entangled in an underground fighting ring. Naturally, the men there totally underestimate her – a mistake they undoubtedly pay for dearly.

The official word from the creators gives us an even clearer picture of what’s to come. In Season 2, Mizu’s relentless pursuit of vengeance takes her through the streets of London, where she’ll face a mix of new allies, familiar enemies, and battle her own internal demons. Meanwhile, back in Japan, Akemi and Taigen will be navigating the treacherous politics of Edo Castle under a dangerous new Shogun. And our loyal companion, Ringo, will be on his own journey to discover a new purpose.

The series creators, the talented husband-and-wife duo Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, have previously emphasized that “Mizu’s journey remains the same. Revenge is her religion.” And from what we’ve seen, that unwavering determination is still at the heart of the story.

For those who might have missed the first season (what are you waiting for?!), Blue Eye Samurai first graced our screens in November 2023 and was so incredibly well-received that Netflix wasted no time, renewing it for a second season just a month later in December. It tells the gripping tale of a female warrior, an onna-musha, who is on a singular mission to exact revenge on four specific men, one of whom is her father.

The show isn’t just a treat for the eyes with its stunning animation; it also boasts an incredible voice cast, including the likes of Kenneth Branagh, Brenda Song, George Takei, Masi Oka, and Randall Park, bringing these complex characters to life. January 2027 feels like a distant future, but with a story this compelling and visuals this breathtaking, we’re sure it’ll be worth every second of anticipation!
