Ghost of Yotei Legends Bids Farewell to Major Updates
Hey gamers, we’ve got some bittersweet news regarding the hit title Ghost of Yotei. Developer Sucker Punch Productions has officially announced that the Legends multiplayer mode won’t be getting any more major updates. This came straight from lead designer Darren Bridges, who shared the update via the PlayStation Blog.
The recent Raid update, which dropped on April 10, will be the last significant patch for the Legends mode. “The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends,” Bridges stated. He added that this update wraps up the story of the Yōtei Six. “We’ve loved to see players enjoying it. It’s been a fantastic journey,” he remarked.
Ghost of Yotei launched on October 2, 2025, and the anticipation for its Legends mode surged when Sucker Punch announced it would be available as a free DLC in February this year, leading to its release just a month later on March 10.
It’s a bit surprising to see support for major updates end so soon after launch, especially since Sucker Punch had a history of continually updating the Legends mode for Ghost of Tsushima long after its release in 2020. Back then, players received cool additions like PlayStation-themed skins and even a standalone version of the mode, complete with a new game type called Rivals.
Despite this news, Sucker Punch hasn’t clarified how long Ghost of Yotei Legends will continue to receive smaller updates for bug fixes or balancing. Fans are definitely hoping for some ongoing support!
Ghost of Yotei has proven to be a beloved PS5 exclusive, significantly impacting Sony’s financials as of February. Our own review gave it an 8/10, praising its captivating world and engaging action. “It may not be pushing the boundaries of open-world gameplay, but it beautifully captures the samurai fantasy,” we noted.
So, while we say goodbye to major updates, let’s hope the game continues to thrive in the hearts of players! What are your thoughts on this development? Let us know in the comments!
