Jason Voorhees Joins Dead by Daylight: A Killer Collaboration Unveiled!

Big news for horror game fans! Behaviour Interactive recently announced that none other than Jason Voorhees will be the latest killer to join the asymmetrical multiplayer game, Dead by Daylight. If you’ve ever wondered why he wasn’t already a part of this terrifying lineup, you’re definitely not the only one. According to Robbie Barsamian, the executive VP of Horror Inc., fans of Friday the 13th have been eagerly waiting for this crossover since the game first launched.

In the game, Jason is cleverly dubbed “The Slasher.” He comes packed with some chilling abilities. For starters, he can vanish into thin air and reappear at crucial spots on the map, such as breakable walls and pallets. When he does this, he not only destroys these barriers but also triggers a scream from any nearby survivors, giving away their hiding spots!

The tension is about to skyrocket as players will have to deal with the sudden absence of Jason, knowing that a brutal attack could come at any moment. But that’s not all! Jason can create “makeshift projectiles” from items found in the environment, like broken pallets or hooks used for capturing survivors. With this ability, he can pin survivors to walls, leaving them vulnerable and helpless. However, these projectiles can only be restocked when Jason goes back into stealth mode.

Dave Richard, the senior creative director, expressed excitement about Jason’s inclusion, stating that it’s a perfect time for his arrival, especially with the game celebrating its 10th anniversary. It seems that everything just clicked into place for this thrilling addition.

Jason’s gaming history is quite extensive, having made appearances in Mortal Kombat X, among other titles that have unfortunately been pulled from stores. His previous game, Friday the 13th, was similar to Dead by Daylight and was shut down in 2024 after years of service. Interestingly, the team that developed that game is now working on a Halloween-themed follow-up set to release this year, making this a full-circle moment.

If you’re excited to take on the role of The Slasher, mark your calendars! Jason will be available in the public test build on Steam starting May 26, with the full DLC set to launch on June 16. Get ready for some truly spine-chilling gameplay!
