Marvel Tokon Beta Smashes Records: Blade and Magick Hype is Real for Pakistani Gamers!
Get ready, fighting game fans! Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has just wrapped up an absolutely smashing open beta weekend, setting new records and proving that the hype for certain Marvel heroes is very, very real. Even with a few bumps in the road for our PC brethren, the beta was a monumental success, pulling in more Steam players than any previous fighting game beta in history!
We’re talking serious numbers here. Marvel Tokon hit a peak of 33,233 concurrent players on Steam. To put that into perspective, it narrowly beat out the famously packed Street Fighter 6 beta from 2023, which peaked at 32,787 players. And for another comparison, Tekken 8’s beta later that same year saw 15,035 players. So yeah, Tokon’s beta wasn’t just big; it was colossal!
But who were the stars of this epic showdown? Data crunchers in the FGC, looking at high-rank play (Vibranium and above), revealed fascinating character usage trends. Two heroes absolutely stole the show: Magick and Blade. Magick consistently led the pack, not only as the most-used character overall but also as the top choice for Team Leader.
Close behind was the Daywalker himself, Blade, securing the spot as the second most-used character overall. While he dropped to fourth for Team Leaders (with Spider-Man and Shuri taking second and third), Blade was hands down the most popular Assist Character. Magick also showed her versatility, coming in second as an Assist. Other popular picks included Magneto and Spider-Man, who rounded out the top four in both overall usage and assist roles.
On the flip side, poor Danger consistently found herself at the bottom of the popularity list across all aspects. Miss Marvel fared a little better, just ahead of Danger in overall usage and assists, but surprisingly, she was a much more popular choice for Team Leader.
Blade’s incredible popularity in the beta isn’t just a fluke; it reflects a much broader desire within the gaming community. It’s no secret that gamers everywhere, especially here in Pakistan, have been craving more Blade content for ages. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige himself recently expressed regret over delays with the upcoming Mahershala Ali film. And let’s not forget the standalone Blade game by Arkane, whose future looks uncertain amidst Xbox’s major restructuring efforts. Fans are holding onto hope for a positive outcome for that project!
