Michael B. Jordan Excited for David Jonsson to Step into the Black Panther Role

Michael B. Jordan is buzzing with excitement over the announcement of David Jonsson taking on the mantle of Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Jordan couldn’t contain his enthusiasm when asked about Jonsson’s casting. He enthusiastically exclaimed, “Oh, I love it! It’s amazing! I can’t wait, can’t wait!”

For those who may not know, Michael B. Jordan previously played the formidable Erik Killmonger in the first two Black Panther films, a character known for his ambition to seize the Wakandan throne and disrupt the global order with Wakanda’s advanced technology. Although Killmonger met his end in the first movie, he made a memorable appearance as a hallucination in the sequel.

Jordan has a long-standing collaboration with director Ryan Coogler, starting with the film Fruitvale Station, and continuing through projects like Creed and the Black Panther series. Together, they’ve earned accolades, including Oscars. Coogler is set to direct Black Panther 3, aiming for a release in December 2028.

The journey of Black Panther has been particularly challenging, especially after the untimely passing of Chadwick Boseman, who played T’Challa. Instead of recasting the role, Coogler decided to pass the legacy on to Shuri. Now, Jonsson will take the reins as T’Challa’s son—a decision that has been highly praised since it was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con.

David Jonsson, known for his performances in Alien: Romulus and The Long Walk, caught Coogler’s attention with his talent, leading to this exciting casting choice. As of now, fans are left wondering whether Jonsson will first be seen in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars or make his debut in Black Panther 3.
