Red Dead Online: Not a Missed Chance, Says Take-Two’s Chief

As Rockstar gears up for the much-anticipated launch of GTA 6 (at least on consoles), let’s not forget about Red Dead Online. This multiplayer component of Red Dead Redemption 2 hit a snag back in 2022 when its developers decided to halt major updates to concentrate on the next game in the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

Since then, there have been a few glimmers of hope that Red Dead Online might regain some of its former glory, but nothing significant has really taken off. It had a solid run for about three years, yet it never quite managed to reach the heights of its big brother, GTA Online. However, according to Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two, that doesn’t necessarily mean it was a lost opportunity.

Zelnick expressed that just because Red Dead Online didn’t achieve the same level of success as GTA Online, it doesn’t reflect poorly on its potential or development. It’s an interesting perspective, especially as many fans reminisce about the wild west adventures and the camaraderie in online play. For now, though, it seems like the developers are focused on revving up the engines for the next chapter in the GTA saga, leaving Red Dead Online’s fate somewhat uncertain.
