Resident Evil Requiem Hits 7 Million Sales in Just Two Months!
Get ready to celebrate, gamers! Resident Evil Requiem has officially sold over 7 million copies in less than two months, proving once again the immense popularity of Leon S. Kennedy and the Resident Evil franchise. This makes Requiem the fastest-selling game in the Resident Evil series, a title that showcases Capcom’s ongoing success in the gaming world.
While Capcom hasn’t put out an official statement confirming this impressive achievement, game director Koshi Nakanishi took to Instagram to share the milestone, posting a delightful snap of Capcom employees enjoying some Resident Evil-themed cakes to mark the occasion. And let’s be honest, if those cakes were anything like the game, they were probably amazing!
The Resident Evil series has been breaking sales records for years now. For instance, back in 2021, Resident Evil Village managed to sell 3 million copies in just four days. Then, in 2023, the RE4 remake blew that record out of the water by selling the same number in a mere two days. But with Requiem hitting 7 million sales since its launch on February 26, it achieved a milestone that took the RE4 remake an entire year to reach, which sold around 6.48 million units by February 2024.
Industry analyst Mat Piscatella recently highlighted just how significant Requiem’s sales performance is. According to Circana sales data, Requiem has now secured its place among the top five best-selling games in the Resident Evil franchise based on US dollar sales. It’s currently trailing behind Resident Evil 5, the RE4 remake, Resident Evil Village, and the original Resident Evil 4 in overall lifetime sales.
But it’s not just Resident Evil that’s making waves for Capcom. The company also announced that Pragmata, their Xbox 360-core sci-fi shooter, has sold over a million copies in just two days. With Monster Hunter Wilds set to unveil an expansion this summer, addressing its past performance issues, Capcom is likely gearing up for another sales bonanza.
With everything looking up for Capcom, fans can’t help but wonder what thrilling updates are on the horizon!
