Resident Evil: Veronica Returns with a Third-Person Twist!

Great news for fans of the Resident Evil franchise! The upcoming title, Resident Evil: Veronica, will be played from a third-person perspective, just like the beloved original from 2000. This exciting update was confirmed during a recent Q&A session at Summer Game Fest, where Capcom officially unveiled the game.

Now, while the original Resident Evil: Code Veronica also featured third-person gameplay, it had those classic “tank” controls that many players fondly remember from the PlayStation era. The good news is that the new Resident Evil: Veronica is taking a modern approach to gameplay. According to GameSpot, it will be reminiscent of the gameplay seen in the Resident Evil 2 remake.

Players will once again step into the shoes of Claire Redfield, who is still finding her footing in the world of combat as Veronica takes place just a few months after Resident Evil 2. Expect to see a strong emphasis on resource management, staying true to the franchise’s roots.

Even though the original wasn’t a main entry in the series, Capcom is treating Resident Evil: Veronica like one this time around. The title’s one-word subtitle is a nod to recent releases like Requiem and Village, and it aims to tie back to the broader narrative that fans have followed closely throughout the series.

Mark your calendars—Resident Evil: Veronica is set to launch in 2027 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC. Get ready for another thrilling chapter in the Resident Evil saga!
