It certainly looks a bit odd for a company to recommend high-end memory for gaming while simultaneously selling expensive machines that fall short.

This situation might stem from a few places. The tech world is buzzing about a potential “memory crisis,” with industry giants like Samsung predicting severe supply issues in the coming years. Plus, the massive investment in AI by tech companies, including Microsoft, is driving up demand and costs for components like RAM and storage. It’s possible Microsoft found itself in an awkward position, recommending 32GB while its own high-end devices require a hefty sum (over $2,750 (approx. Rs 764,500) for a Surface Pro with 32GB) to meet that very recommendation.

And it’s not just Microsoft making these curious moves. We saw AMD do something similar. It seems like a pattern where big tech companies sometimes backtrack on their own advice, perhaps due to market realities, supply chain pressures, or shifting priorities towards AI.
