The Obsession of a Lone Gamer: Soloing Elden Ring Nightreign’s Hard Mode

We’ve all got that one gamer who simply blows our minds with their extraordinary skills. You know, those individuals online that seem to defy the limits of what we thought was possible in gaming. For me, it’s a YouTuber named eauvni, who has taken their obsession with Elden Ring Nightreign to another level by tackling its hardest mode solo and sharing every gripping moment through VOD uploads.

Eauvni’s dedication is nothing short of impressive. This player consistently churns out multiple gameplay runs each week, showcasing their prowess in Nightreign. While they experiment with various characters, they have a special bond with the Sekiro-inspired Executor. Since the game’s mega-challenging Deep of Night mode debuted, they’ve focused their content on Depth Three— a grueling level that pushes the boundaries of skill and patience.

Now, it’s no surprise that even an expert like eauvni finds soloing Depth Five a daunting task, with many veterans agreeing that the leap in difficulty is massive. The jump from Depth Three to Four nearly doubles the damage enemies inflict, making it a real nightmare for even the most skilled players out there. This is where the true test of gaming mettle begins, and it seems that eauvni has chosen to master Depth Three instead.

The sheer volume of eauvni’s gameplay is impressive, serving as an archive of their relentless pursuit of perfection. With countless runs on the same two maps and a familiar roster of bosses, it’s almost like they have cracked the code of the game. Watching their videos, you can see the obsessive dedication etched into each encounter, as they’ve already optimized their builds to perfection and are seemingly waiting for the next big update that might never come.

As someone who can relate to this obsession—albeit at a much lower skill level—I often find myself in the trenches with fellow writers during lunch breaks, struggling through Nightreign runs. We’re currently inching towards Depth Five, and I can’t help but feel frustrated by the game at times. Eauvni’s “Thank You Nightreign Compilation” perfectly captures that bittersweet essence of the grind. If you’ve played Nightreign, you know there’s a devious element at play, making every victory feel like a miracle.

One of their standout moments is a recent no-damage run with the Executor. This player has a knack for diving headfirst into battles with bosses that terrify most of us. In this latest video, they boldly take down a turbocharged Erdtree Avatar at Limveld castle, and have faced the notoriously tough Bell Bearing Hunter so many times that it’s almost routine for them.

While I may not be able to reach the heights of eauvni’s skills, I can’t shake off the worry that Nightreign might spoil my enjoyment of other FromSoftware games. When I eventually replay Elden Ring with the upcoming Tarnished Edition patch, will it feel too easy? And when the next game rolls out, will I miss the thrilling chaos that Nightreign offers? Only time will tell, but for now, the world of Elden Ring continues to captivate and challenge dedicated gamers like eauvni and myself.
