The Royal Road Trip on the Go? FF15 for Nintendo Switch 2 “Not Impossible,” Says Square Enix!
Alright, gamers of Pakistan, get ready for some exciting news that might just make your day! Imagine taking Noctis and the gang on their epic road trip wherever you go, without needing a hefty console. Well, it seems a portable version of Final Fantasy 15 (FF15) for the shiny new Nintendo Switch 2 might not be as far-fetched as you think!
Publisher Square Enix, the maestros behind the beloved Final Fantasy saga, recently dropped a tantalizing hint. While squeezing a massive, graphically intensive open-world RPG like FF15 onto a handheld device like the Switch 2 definitely comes with its technical headaches, they’ve stated it’s “not entirely impossible.” That’s not a “no,” folks!
Square Enix has been a major supporter of Nintendo’s latest console since its debut last summer. They’ve already brought a host of their titles, from Dragon Quest remakes to other cherished Final Fantasy games, to the platform. We’ve seen various Final Fantasy experiences make their way to the Switch, proving Square Enix is keen on making their iconic series accessible to more players.
During a recent discussion with investors, the topic naturally shifted to which other Final Fantasy adventures could potentially get the on-the-go treatment for Switch 2. If modern FF titles can be adapted, why not the grand journey of FF15? When directly asked about the possibility of an FF15 port, Square Enix acknowledged the “certain hardware constraints” required to replicate the full experience but delivered the hopeful message that it’s indeed “not entirely impossible.”
Now, before we all start pre-ordering our Switch 2 consoles just for this, Square Enix kept their cards close to their chest regarding an actual development commitment. They simply mentioned they would “pass along your input to the development team as a valuable perspective on marketing and future platform options.” So, while it’s not a definite “yes, it’s coming,” it’s certainly not a “no,” and they’re clearly listening to what fans want.
For those who might need a refresher, Final Fantasy 15 first launched in 2016 and quickly became one of the best-selling entries in the series. Despite a somewhat rocky initial reception, Square Enix has consistently refined the game with numerous DLC packs and a “Royal Edition,” adding new content, features, and significant technical improvements to its already stunning world. It’s a game that truly evolved, and its charming cast and unique road trip vibe have captured many hearts.
So, what do you think, PakGamers? Is a portable FF15 on your Switch 2 wishlist? We’ll be keeping our ears to the ground for any more whispers from Square Enix!
