Todd Howard Isn’t Retiring Anytime Soon: The Legend Continues at Bethesda

Looks like Todd Howard isn’t hanging up his gaming boots just yet! The legendary director at Bethesda Game Studios recently opened up about his thoughts on retirement and let’s just say, he’s not planning to go anywhere anytime soon. Instead, he’s more pumped than ever to keep working, especially with all the exciting projects in the pipeline like Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5!

Since joining Bethesda back in 1994 when they were still making Terminator games, Todd Howard has become a household name in the gaming world. He truly made waves with his directorial role in The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, which set the standard for future Bethesda RPGs. Over the years, he has led iconic titles such as Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Skyrim, and the recent Starfield. And while he’s in his mid-50s, he’s not letting age slow him down.

In a recent chat with Jason Schreier, Howard reflected on the idea of retirement. He admitted that there was a time when he thought about what retirement might look like, but now? Not a chance! “I see the work we’re doing. I just love it. I love working with these people. It’s really not something I think about,” he said, clearly excited about his team and the projects they are tackling.

He also mentioned that others in the industry, especially those a bit older, are still producing fantastic work, which keeps him motivated. One of those is Hideo Kojima, who celebrated his 60th birthday a few years back and has declared he has no plans to retire either. So, it seems like both these gaming legends are here to stay and continue creating amazing experiences for us gamers.

So, no need to worry—you can expect Todd Howard to keep selling you copies of Skyrim on the next-gen consoles like the PS6 and Xbox Project Helix for a while longer. And who knows? With all his creativity flowing, he might just surprise us with something fresh and exciting!
