Warcraft 3 Legacy Makes a Comeback on Battle.net

Hey gamers! Big news for all you Warcraft fans out there! Blizzard has made a surprising move by bringing back the classic Warcraft 3 on Battle.net. Remember all the noise about Warcraft 3: Reforged not living up to expectations? Well, it turns out, that was just the tip of the iceberg. As one reviewer pointed out, the remaster didn’t just flop on its own; it actually affected the classic version too. With both versions now linked, issues like connection problems and a lack of competitive ladders were shared, making it a tricky situation for hardcore fans.

Although Blizzard has rolled out patches to fix some of the blunders with Reforged, it’s still got its quirks. A major hiccup was that many popular custom maps wouldn’t work when you tried to dive into the original version from the new launcher. But fear not, Blizzard has finally listened to the community’s pleas.

In their latest update, they announced that anyone who owns Warcraft 3 can now access the original version 1.29 through the Battle.net App. To get started, just head to your Warcraft III playscreen, click on the Game Version dropdown in the bottom left corner, and select ‘Warcraft III – Legacy TFT 1.29’. Just a heads up, this Legacy client is only for offline and LAN play, so keep that in mind.

Now, while version 1.29 wasn’t the absolute final update, it was the last one that made LAN play easily accessible. If you were around for the glorious days of early 2000s PC gaming, you probably ran LAN parties with your friends, taking a break from other games like Dungeon Siege. Those were the times!

If you decide to install Warcraft 3 Legacy and find that the cinematics aren’t playing, there’s a quick fix. Simply navigate to your install directory, find the ‘en-USMovies’ folder, and rename it to just ‘Movies’. You might need to do the same for the Maps directory as well to get everything running smoothly.

So, dust off those nostalgia goggles and get ready to relive some epic moments in Warcraft 3 Legacy!
