Do you think the Tomb Raider franchise lacks a good villain?

This is a good topic that was shared by a reddit user. Here is what he had to say about it.

I think the TR franchise spent a lot of time developing the character of Lara Croft (as they should) but they never bothered to invest some of that time to develop a good villain. I would love to see a good villain that can challenge Lara's world view the way the Joker does to Batman or Darth Vader does to Luke Skywalker. I think Lara Croft needs to have a good archenemy that is her equal physically and intellectually.

A good villain should have an interesting motive that can leave you asking questions about whether they were right. I hate the cliché villains that just want world domination. I'm also sick and tired of the cults and secret organizations that we keep seeing in the TR games.

Of the existing antagonists, I think Werner Von Croy has the potential to be that villain because while he is not physically intimidating, he is intellectually equal to Lara. Natla is a good villain but her motive is just typical world domination and she deserves better. Natla is also a lot more powerful than Lara and is not relatable. Amanda has the potential to be a good villain as she has a history with Lara but it feels like rivalry between old friends and nothing more. Dominguez has a good motive but he was introduced very late so his character couldn't be properly developed. Konstantin has an excellent motive but he was a side villain and was killed off quickly.

What do you think? I think we need someone to be the Joker to Lara's Batman.
