Mastering the Arc Turbine Hunt in Arc Raiders: Tips and Tricks
The latest enemy to join the fray in the Riven Tide update of Arc Raiders is the formidable Arc Turbine. This beast can really put a dent in your plans, especially since it shows up late in the round. You’ll need to act fast to take it down before you miss your chance to exfiltrate. Plus, defeating it is essential if you want to gather the new Turbine Compressor material for crafting that cool Avian Alarm project. This material also comes in handy when making some nifty new items, like the Powered Descender tool.
So, how do you find and beat this tough opponent? Let’s break it down!
Finding the Arc Turbine
The Arc Turbine typically makes its entrance when there are about 16 to 13 minutes left on the clock. You’ll hear a loud thunderclap, signaling its arrival, and if you look up, you’ll see it descending from the sky. Keep your eyes peeled, though, because these guys don’t spawn every time, and you might need to extract if you don’t spot one by the 13-minute mark. Interestingly, there are occasions when you could encounter two Turbines at once!
You can find them mainly in the northern areas of the map, particularly near:
- The northeast by the Tidebreaker seawall
- The northwest around Azzurro Beach and the nearby hotel
- Directly north, close to the Port Authority Building
- Southwest of the Customs House
The most common scenario for seeing two Turbines spawn is when one drops by the Port Authority Building and another near the Customs House. When an Arc Turbine lands, it stays put for a bit, so you’ll want to take advantage of that window.
How to Take Down an Arc Turbine
Defeating an Arc Turbine won’t be a walk in the park. It’s tougher than enemies like the Rocketeer or Bombardier. The key to defeating it lies in targeting the spinning yellow cylinders at its core, but these are only exposed when it lands. Here are a couple of strategies to take it down:
- Use Deadlines: If you’ve got Deadlines ready, plant them inside the Turbine when it lands. It usually takes just a couple to finish it off. However, be wary of the mines it drops upon landing, as they make getting close a bit tricky. You have to be quick since it doesn’t stay on the ground for long. If you’re lucky enough to snag a Deadline daily from Apollo, now’s the time to use it!
- Distance Attacks: Alternatively, if you’re equipped with a Hullcracker or a sniper rifle, you can hammer away at it from a distance while it’s landed. Just keep in mind that if you’re too close, it’ll retaliate with its lightning projectiles. This tactic works best if you have a full squad backing you up!
Once the Arc Turbine takes off, do not attempt to shoot it while it’s airborne; it’s heavily armored and will rain down lightning strikes. Instead, think of it like a multi-phase boss fight. Wait for it to land again and then either set up your next Deadline or keep attacking from a safe distance.
The challenge with the Arc Turbine is not just its toughness but also its late spawn time and location relative to the elevator for extraction. If you approach from the right angle, you might be able to surprise it. Watch out for those mines, though!
In the end, using the Deadline strategy is likely your best bet for a quick takedown, especially if you coordinate with a teammate to plant two at once. The Arc Turbine has limited close-range defenses, so you can catch it off guard and then take cover until it lands again.
Once you bring one down, you’ll get your hands on that valuable Turbine Compressor material, vital for crafting some of the new gear, including the Powered Descender, and you’ll need two of these for the Avian Alarm project. Happy hunting, Raiders!
