Matt Smith Shocked That Keanu Reeves Watched Morbius: “Not F**king Morbius!”
In a surprising twist, Matt Smith recently expressed his disbelief that Keanu Reeves actually watched the much-maligned film, Morbius. During an episode of Brittany Broski’s Royal Court, Smith quipped, “Not f**king Morbius. My God, he must really have gone through the library to be getting to that. He must have been having a moment.”
Smith, who starred alongside Jared Leto in the film, couldn’t help but praise Reeves, saying, “I love Keanu Reeves… what a movie star. And he just looks like an angel, you know? If you were to get a guardian angel in life, please God, let it be Keanu Reeves.”
For those who might not know, Morbius chronicles the story of Michael Morbius, played by Leto, and his surrogate brother Milo, portrayed by Smith, as they hunt for a cure for their rare blood condition. Morbius undergoes a transformation into a living vampire after trying out a cure, while Milo succumbs to temptation and turns into a supervillain, complete with an awkward dance scene.
Despite its star-studded cast, Morbius struggled at the box office, raking in just $167.5 (approx. Rs 46,570) million worldwide against a production budget of $83 (approx. Rs 23,070) million. It currently holds a dismal 15% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, though audiences seem to have enjoyed it more, giving it a 71% score.
The film gained notoriety for its poor reception, becoming somewhat of a meme sensation. This led to its brief re-release in theaters, tapping into its unexpected viral fame. Given Reeves’ known love for action-horror comics, it’s no wonder he decided to give Morbius a chance during a long flight.
For those intrigued, Morbius is now available for streaming on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for updates on the latest Marvel projects and more in the entertainment world!
