New Black Panther Takes the Lead in Upcoming 2028 Sequel

Exciting news emerged from the San Diego Comic-Con 2026, where Marvel Studios shared some thrilling updates about the third installment of Black Panther. The legendary Kevin Feige confirmed that the talented Ryan Coogler, fresh off an Oscar win, is on board to direct the film, scheduled for a release on December 15, 2028.

One of the biggest reveals was the introduction of a new Black Panther. David Jonsson, known for his role in The Long Walk, will be stepping into the iconic role, playing T’Challa’s son, a character we got a glimpse of in the post-credits scene of Wakanda Forever. While fans are left pondering the timeline implications—seeing as T’Challa II was just a child—Coogler hinted at the character’s growth in this next chapter, stating, “In this next film, he grows up, comes of age, and we had to find an incredible actor.” Jonsson expressed his gratitude to join this stellar cast, saying, “The honor is entirely mine.”

Black Panther 3 has been brewing for quite some time, especially after the success of the previous movie in 2022.
