New Mobile Suit Gundam Anime Unveiled with Exciting Trailer at SDCC

Big news for Gundam fans! At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, a brand-new anime titled Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO was officially announced, and it’s set to coincide with the upcoming video game Gundam Rogue Orbit. The first teaser trailer dropped during a panel discussion, and it’s definitely worth checking out.

The storyline kicks off in a pretty intense setting: “For three months, humanity battled the Apocalypse in space above Earth. With nowhere left to turn, Earth was abandoned, marking the year as A.A.—the first year After Apocalypse. By A.A. 45, children born on the Moon and in colonies have never known life without the looming threat of the Apocalypse. Enter Ray Azumi, a boy who awakens on the lunar surface.” Sounds intriguing, right?

What’s really exciting is that this new anime takes place a century before the events of Gundam Rogue Orbit, setting the stage for some epic storytelling. Kenji Kamiyama, the creative mind behind Star Wars Visions and Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim, will be helming the project as both writer and director.

The Gundam franchise has been entertaining fans since its inception in 1979 with the original Mobile Suit Gundam series, leading to a vast universe of shows, films, and games. Both Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO and Gundam Rogue Orbit are slated for release in 2027, so there’s plenty to look forward to!
