Wes Johnson Returns as Sheogorath in Hilarious Oblivion Remastered Promo, But PC Gamers Still Waiting for Fixes!

Bethesda recently dropped a delightful promotional video for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 launch of the game in August, and it’s a breath of fresh air from your usual gameplay trailers.
The star of this quirky new promo is none other than the legendary Elder Scrolls voice actor, Wes Johnson. If you’ve played Oblivion, you’ll know his voice from the default Imperial males, but he truly shines in his most vibrant role: the eccentric, cheese-loving Mad God, Sheogorath! It’s fantastic to see Johnson back in action, especially after a serious medical emergency about 18 months ago, from which he thankfully made a full recovery.
In the video, Johnson fully embraces the Prince of Madness, dressing up as Sheogorath himself and causing all sorts of delightful chaos in a sound booth. With an exasperated audio technician looking on, Sheogorath records lines, growing increasingly bewildered as to why he has to re-record dialogue he’s already perfected. It’s pure marketing genius, and seeing Johnson channel the Mad God’s energy is genuinely entertaining.
However, amidst all the laughter and excitement for the Switch 2 version, there’s a growing undercurrent of frustration from the PC gaming community. Many players have reported significant technical issues with Oblivion Remastered on PC. From persistent performance hitches across Cyrodiil to a wide array of bugs – some dating back to the original 2006 release, others brand new – the experience hasn’t been smooth for everyone.
What’s even more disheartening is the apparent lack of support for the PC version from Bethesda and Virtuos. While the game did receive a couple of patches after its initial launch, the last significant update, version 1.2, dropped over a year ago. This neglect has led to a noticeable dip in recent Steam reviews, pushing the game’s current rating to “Mixed,” although its overall standing remains “Mostly Positive.”
So, while we can all appreciate the brilliant marketing stunt featuring Sheogorath’s antics, many PC players are hoping that the upcoming Switch 2 launch might also bring some much-needed attention and tender loving care (TLC) to the PC version. It’s time for some serious bug fixes and performance improvements so everyone can truly enjoy their adventures in Oblivion without the madness of technical glitches!
